Samurai Dozuki Pull Saw

This is a very well made very sharp mini saw. It is very versatile as it has one edge for hardwood and one for softwood. The grip is nice and you don't feel that you could lose control of the cut. I have to say it goes through cherry branches with absolute ease, so it is perfect for small pruning jobs. The blade is very flexible, making it good for flush cuts, as shown in the advert, if you need to cut off dowels etc. However it doesn't come with any sleeve or case, so storage can be an issue, not only that it is very sharp, so getting it lost in a tool box makes it a little dangerous, and also, due to it's flexibility I would worry about it becoming warped it was stored under something heavy. At time of purchase it was £19.99, which is OK value as it's a good sharp tool.

This pull saw was received in a zipped plastic bag, and the sharp blade teeth were well protected, avoiding accidental cuts. It is lightweight and comfortable to grip. This saw features a blade with double-edged teeth, which enables cutting in both pull and push actions. You may need a bit of practice prior to cutting through wood smoothly. Once you get used to it, I found that it was sharp and efficient for cutting various tree branches. There is a single screw that fixes the handle to the blade, which allows for blade replacement or adjusting the blade direction in reference to the handle for a particular angle of cut. Overall, it is a practical and versatile tool. It cuts through wood very efficiently. The blade is easy to maintain with a damp cloth. It is a great addition to my toolbox. It's good value for money at £9.99 when submitting this review. Happy to recommend.

Off the bat - I like Japanese pull saws. This one is decent, has a nicely flexible blade for flush cutting, and cuts OK.It's not as aggressive as my other two (14 and 18TPI) but it's finer pitch probably means it shouldn't be.It cuts clean, reasonably fast (although not very fast) and it easy to use with a good handle.Overall, not bad.Images are saw showing blade length, then cuts in softwood (crosscut) and english oak (showing the removal of a tongue, to assess performance and flush cut).

This is a very lightweight pull saw, with a cutting edge of approx.. 6 inches. It arrived in a protective plastic zip sleeve, with a little ‘Lifetime Warranty’ note from the manufacturer.I first used the pull saw on some overhanging branches of about 2cms, and it coped with them, fine. I did find the blade was quiet flexible, which surprised me, but not sure if this was a feature, to make the sawing easier? I have never used one of these pull saws before, and to be honest, I did find it took me longer than using a pair of shears. However, the saw isn’t just for use in the garden, but for other wood working jobs too. The blade did cut well, and I found that branches could be cut easily, by just pulling the saw over the branch, as opposed to going back and forth.I think the pull saw is priced realistically, for what it is, and it’s nice to know you get a lifetime warranty with it.

This review is for the Japanese Small Cut Saw, please note that some other reviews appear to be for other types of saw in the range.The key features of this saw are its flexible blade and fairly small size. This enables a virtually flush cut in a relatively small space. The saw does this well on soft wood and being double-sided is another useful feature although I have not had the occasion to use the hard wood side yet. The handle is firmly attached and comfortable to hold and the price is better than many. I am not sure how well it will hold up to extensive use but as it falls into a specialist category I won’t be using it daily, especially as the flexible blade makes it less suitable for straightforward sawing.

Lightweight Japanese Pull Saw (Japanese Tenon Saw) and Small Cut Saw (Flush Cut Saw)- Both saws are reviewed here because a separate review cannot be posted. I have noted the correct name for the saws above in brackets and this is how they are labelled on brand website, a pull saw is different to a tenon saw. Both are manufactured in Taiwan.Japanese Tenon Saw:Lots of DIY on the go and I wanted to try one of these. It is lightweight, 158g. Total length 390mm, cutting edge 150mm.- The large handle is comfortable to hold, non-slip and the blade is thin, but strengthened at the top similar to a tenon saw. The blade is flexible by just the right amount and it's easy to use, easy to get an accurate cut. Having a thin blade also means less waste and a neater edge. With some practice I found I could quickly cut softwood. I also tried it on some ply, I was pleased that I had virtually no breakout on either side.Flush Cut Saw:Total length 285mm, cutting edge 120mm.- This is for cutting dowel pegs flush with the work among other things. It has a super flexible thin blade so you can hold it flush. A very handy tool to have. The large handle is comfortable to hold, it is non-slip.Both saws:- The build is good and strong with good quality materials. The handle is plastic and the blade is chrome plated high carbon steel.- A problem I can see straight away is that I will not be able to sharpen them. The teeth are very close together and small, which is good while they are sharp. You can replace the blades by undoing screw/s to pull the blade out, but I don't see any replacement blades yet. It would be nice to have some available.- Highly recommend both tools, provided you can get replacement blades! They were both very good value for money when ordered, now reduced which is a steal!

I have been using pull saws for the past couple of years as they allow greater accuracy and ease of cuts than standard western saws.This saw is very well made. Rather than the more common rattan handle, it has a plastic one which I really like (was never than keen on the rattan ones); there a rubbery strips on either side of which gives a very positive non-slip grip in use. The blade is thinner than other pull saws I have so the kerf is extremely thin which is always handy; its also six inches long so its about half the length of a full size saw and makes the it very versatile. The blade is very sharp and cuts very cleanly and straight thanks to the spine.Overall this is an excellent saw, its easy to make straight cuts with is and the plastic handle makes it very ergonomic. At £20 the price is fine with the only issue being whether replacement blades are available as they are removable from the handle.

Extremely sharp Pruning saw, of a reasonablesize. Must be kept out of reach of children.Really good that it folds into itself & has aLife time guarantee.

This is a fantastic saw have used it on laurel branches it was so easy to use like a knife cutting through butter easy to store too.Great for small hands! Good value for money.

Brilliant pruning saw, does the job but very sharp!!

Seemed a little flimsy when I first handled it. However it performed flawlessly so zero complaints.

This kimura pro folding pruning saw is heavy duty the saw blade is made of sk5 steel is really hard, meterial, it has a great sturdy handle for more controlled action this is easy to use the size is perfect and the weight is great, and has a life time warranty which is really great also in knowing that if any thing happens you're covered,

This saw folds up safely and stays folded, it is easy to unfold and has 3 positions where it locks firmly in place - which some pruning saws I have used did not, because the locking mechanism was badly designed. The saw cuts very well and makes short work of branches up to 50mm ( it will cut thicker ones but I use a bigger saw such as a bow saw for those )

It was fine but needed a bit more strength than I had for bigger branches

Arrived promptly and is exactly what I wanted. Have not had chance to use it yet but it is lightweight, locks both on and off, great price and I am certain will cut well after checking the blade. As I now have back problems it will make things easier for me to cut so that I can still keep gardening.

Bigger than my last saw, it cuts through branches very well. it's sturdy and easy to use. very pleased with the results that it gives
